Weekend Recap

Check THIS out! If you click on the link, you’ll see that I’ve received a most awesome review for The Dance. They gave it their highest rating. The review site has a place to leave comments as well, if you are so inclined. ; )

Where have you been? Oh, wait… it was me that was AWOL. Well, I’ve been rather busy.

Friday afternoon I had to drive my son to Muskogee. He’s spending a week with his biological mother since he is officially out of school for the summer.

Friday evening we ordered Chinese takeout and watched movies. We decided to make it an easy night because we knew it was going to be a hectic weekend.

Saturday morning we got up and decided to jog four miles to get the day started right. A thunderstorm rolled in while we were finishing the last leg and we barely made it back to the house before all hell broke loose. Needless to say, we made excellent time for the run.

We had a few things to do at my wife’s lab, so we cleaned up and headed out. I say we, she worked and I shot the bull with one of my friends that happened to be there (not so odd as he is one of the owners).

After that my wife suggested we grab some dinner at Hooter’s. She loves the chicken wings and what kind of husband would I be if I denied her something she really enjoys? So, I suffered through an hour and a half dinner being doted on by the restaurants staff of rowdy ladies.

That evening we were invited to participate in a special event at one of the local casinos. It was four hours of bingo. No admission, but plenty of nifty prizes. They also had an open bar. Free booze for four hours? Wisely, they also set us up with a free room for the evening.

Sunday we had another mother of a storm. This one killed power to the house for most of the day. I had a cookout scheduled for that afternoon, so I stood on my porch and cursed at the angry roiling clouds and seventy mile an hour winds. I guess the big bad storm must’ve realized I meant business because it moved on and left a beautiful sunny day in its wake.

Electricity is not really necessary for a proper cookout, so I proceeded to prep the meal. As luck would have it, the lights were back on (and more to the point, we had power for music) before my guests arrived. It was a smashing time.

Monday morning, I had to head over to Ponca City (about a two hour drive) for a meeting. I planned to ride my bike, but the stupid rain was still showing up on radar so I decided not to chance it.

Other than that, I didn’t do much.

So, how was your weekend?

congrats on the terrific review.

the weekend sounds like it was a nice time in spite of weather threats.

mine...pfft...the back porch which is screened in finally got cleaned of winter debris and accoutrements and made usable for the season so that much was good,

I'm sure the review deserves all kudo's...
You have a Casino that not only gives you free booze, but puts you up to boot?

Thanks, Lime. I'm still grinning about the review. It was a great time, it just ended too quickly. Hopefully next weekend will be more fun for you.

Much obliged, Galen. Yes, we actually have five in the area, but the Cherokee Casino is by far the nicest and the free rooms are only free if you play there entirely too much. :D

Okay, wait. You PLANNED TO RIDE YOUR BIKE TO A MEETING TWO HOURS DRIVING DISTANCE AWAY?!?!!? Are you mad?! I don't ride my bike two blocks. Oh that's right, I don't have a bike. I am in total awe of you at the moment. All hail, James!!! I'm not worthy. I'm not worthy.

You are a freakin' machine. And I am going to go buy a bike.

lol, Kelly. Uhm, I do have a bicycle, but I rareley ride that for more than twenty miles. No, I was talking about my OTHER bike, the iron horse... my motorcycle. :D

That is a two hundred and twenty mile trip, i'd have to be a pedaling fool to make it to the meeting in time. :D

Whew! Okay, I feel better now. Congrats on the review! Sounds like quite a weekend. We dashed between the rainstorms as we toodled around on Saturday. Had a tornado watch here which is rare for Baltimore.

And then... I wrote, wrote, wrote...

What do you mean you didn't do much??? I'm worn out reading about it! Congratulations on the great review m'dear. :)

lol, thanks Anny. It was quite a weekend. :D Ah, oddly enough I didn't get a single bit of writing done over the weekend. It will likely be that way for the rest of the summer. :D

lol, Ciara, you don't sound like a loon. It is a valid question and the answer is, though the book is in print, you can only by it online right now. You can get it at Amazon or directly from the publisher. :D click on the cover in my sidebar if you opt for the last one. :D

lol, me too, Kelly. I'd truly be insane to try such a trek. :D

Right on, AK. It was a busy weekend, but in a good way. :D Thanks for the kudos. :D
