Friday 55

Welcome to Friday 55. The object of the game is to write a story using exactly 55 words. If you participate, be sure to drop a comment at G-Man’s blog so others will know how to find your story.

Elbow on my chest, hands in my mouth, the man is hard at work. Pressure, a hint of pain. Crack. A surprised gasp tells me something’s went wrong. A drill spins, the smell is sickening. A chisel and several tools, I can’t name, tell me I’m in for a long morning. My tooth’s been pulled.

Be sure to check out my post over at Oh, Get a Grip!. This week we are discussing the pros and cons of the ménage. Is three a crowd or just a good time waiting to happen?

James you are in for a long morning.

I am sorry you feel like this!

oh man....i remember that when i had my 4 eye teeth pulled. the ominous crack and then this crowbar looking torture device he used to fish out a rice grain sized piece of tooth. ugh.

hoping you are feeling less pain now. very well done 55. too well done, lol

lol, thanks for that link, Mona. It's manageable just a bit sore, by tomorrow I should be feeling like my cheery ol' self. :D

Oh, yeah, the crack was horrendous, Lime. I kept thinking he was going to mess around and mess up one of my other teeth while he was in there, lol.

I trust your migraine is receding? I certainly hope so. :D

ha ha how'd i know it would be something about teeth? lol very good 55, james. someone else wrote one on wisdom teeth. did you happen to read it? i don't remember the name, but it was somebody who commented on galen's. her name started w an A and she said she hadn't post one in a long time.

btw when i had mine pulled, it was due to having one cracked in half from a car accident. he decided to pull the other three for what only one cost since my ins was covering it, and i prob couldn't afford back then any other way. i can barely remember that surgeon's face now...prob cuz i was in a 'happy drug' fog most of the time i was there. LOL

Oh James did it hurt? :(

lol, Thanks, Ciara. It seemed to be all that was on my mind this morning. :D
I indeed saw the post about wisdom teeth (left a comment).

Oh, wow, I'd probably have prefered the happy drug experience, lol. They had to pull mine because I cracked it, but they left the other three...

lol, it hurt like no one's business, AK. But it is much better today. :D

Great 55!

Thanks, Breazy. I'm praying too. :D

Oh, so you know exactly what today is like, lol. Thanks, Donnetta. Actually, today is much better than yesterday. :d

Ugh. Waaaaay too many memories. James, hope you're feeling better. About your offer--thank you, but I have that book. Just have to read it. Sigh. Lots of books. Thank you!

At 2:53 PM, Blogger James Goodman, Author said...

Thanks, Anny. I am. I actually feel well enough to take the mrs. out tonight. :D

No worries on the offer. :D I hope you enjoy it when you get the opportunity to read it. That's the only draw back I've found to being a writer... It seriously cuts into my reading time, lol. :D

Oh James..I know the feeling quite well.
Thanks for bringing up those memories again.
Excellent job!!!
Thanks for playing, and be careful of dry socket!...G

Ouch! I hope that this temporary intense pain relieves some longterm pain you've been suffering, at least. Relief to make it worth the suffering in the end. And I now understand the comments that the Imp's 55 fit well with yours.

Oooo. Creepy. I didn't see that one coming James. Good one!

Hi James,

Thanks for the comment and I can definitely understand both your Friday and Thursday post. I actually wrote a post about losing my wisdom on the Tues or Wed before my teeth were pulled.

This is too funny we both wrote a Friday 55 about the same thing!

I hope you are doing well. Mine went surprisingly well and though I do not remember much about yesterday I feel pretty good today :)

Ugh! I can hear the crack each time someone mentions it!! Ick--and I've never ever had any teeth pulled! Still--what a fabulous story in a 55! :)

At 4:20 AM, Blogger James Goodman, Author said...

lol, no problem, G-man. :D

Exactly, Smarm. It is already SOOOO much better. :D

Thanks, Kelly. I didn't seeing it coming either, lol.

Hi Ameratis. Small world, no? Glad you are feeling better as well. :D They just gave me a local shot around the gums, so I remember it all. Especially that ginormous needle hitting the roof of my mouth while they were numbing me up, lol.

lol, Snow. This is my first tooth to be pulled. I've never even had a cavity before now, so I had no idea what I was in for. :D

You're sooo not funny, Goody. You KNOW I can only count to 20. And that's on a good day!
