This and That

What a heartbreaker last night’s game was. My beloved Patriots lost the AFC Championship to their nemesis, the Colts. The game was really close though. I guess there’s always next year.

In other news, the ice is finally starting to melt and we made a trip into Tulsa over the weekend. We slipped by Barnes & Noble to pick up a nice stack of books and much to my surprise and delight, my son asked for some books. Other than comics, getting this kid exciting about reading has been like pulling teeth. I think he may be finally catching the bug. I suppose, only time will tell.

I would love to write more, but I’m feeling the tug for a different type of writing and I can resist no longer. So, I must go tend to the voices in my head.

How was your weekend?

Let's see... Our weekend was mostly the same as every weekend, except for the guitar part.

Friday Jim was off (he's off evry other Friday). He waited very IMpatiently for the UPS driver to arrive and deliver his new guitar he purchased online. He whined all morning because the UPS driver didn't get here until after noon. Each time he heard a car in the parking lot, he rushed to the window to look out and was disappointed. I just laughed at him. Then he started to really act like a baby, so I took the kids shopping with me to Target to look at baby stuff. That's when I discovered my registry items were "going out with the old" and "in with the new" (see related post on my blog).

Saturday I did a bit of grocery shopping for items we had run out of, listened to Jim screech on his new guitar, and played with the kiddies. Jim has a computer program that has tons of songs and stuff on it, so he was taking over my computer nearly all weekend while his laptop is getting some warranty work done on it at the Best Buy in Pearland. I thought this new guitar would keep him off my computer for a while so I could use it, but OH NO, he had to have my computer for his music junk.

Sunday I went to church. When I came home we all went to Hastings to browse their crappy book selection. What I wouldn't give for a Barnes & Noble in Lake Jackson! Then I had to listen to Jim screech on his new guitar all day again. I suggested that he learn "our song", but he has more important things to learn like Slayer and Iron Maiden. Umph! There's nothing wrong with learning "Nothing Else Matters" by Metallica, is there? I mean, I chose that as "our song" to be played at our wedding for our dance because it is one of his favorite bands and it's heavy metal. It also suited us while he was traveling... "so close, no matter how far"--Am I right or am I right?

You need to come down here for a visit. Take Jim out for a beer or something so I can get some pace and quiet in his apartment. Please!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

Leslie, I'll see what I can do about a trip that way. :D

Lime, He is in Third grade but reads at a fourth grade level. I appreciate any suggestions you might have.

My weekend was great , thanks ! We are trying to get our oldest one interested in reading and our middle and youngest read so much that I can't keep up with what they are reading from time to time.

I have to say that I was happy that the Colts pulled off the win but I am a bit partial because Peyton Manning played for my beloved Tennessee Volunteers for four years .

You have a good day!

Hi, James! Don't know much about sports and better not pretend to! Read your Thursday's post about your books! Good for you and KEEP WRITING. I'm a wannabe writer and I'm motivated. I see you are from Oklahoma. I've lived in Oklahoma since the 7th grade--and did an earlier stint in the 3rd, 4th, and 5th. Born in New Mexico but Oklahoma is home. I also live part of the year in Florida. I'll visit your blog now that I know you are here. I hope to learn something! Donnetta

Indeed, Snavy.

Hi Donetta, I'm glad you stopped by. Yes, I'm living in owasso. It's a great town. I lived in New Mexico for a year. We lived in Albuquerque in the Northeast Heights right on the base of the Sandias. It was a beautiful little city.

Lol, thanks, Liz. I can't wait to see them in print. Yes, get back to writing. *Cracks Whip* :D

James,
I've been in Tulsa during the big ice storm. We dug out the sidewalk last night. A Trans-Am almost lost control in front of me this morning. I'll be glad when all the ice is gone.
