Friday 55

Ok, so there’s this game floating around the blog-o-sphere called The Friday 55. Basically, you have to write a piece of flash fiction. Here’s the rub, you have to do it in exactly 55 words. Can you write something moving using so few words? Go ahead give it a try, but when you do (you know you want to), let me know so I can come read it. Cool?

Below is my first lame humble attempt. Enjoy

His eyes burned with desire. Nostrils flared. She turned away, his face too much to bear. Rain bounced from the tin-roof, comforting, distracting. His hands found her arms, pulled at her, strong with need. She resisted, putting her hands on his shoulders. He begged; she relented. Her teeth met his throat. He was her first.

My head was aching too much to think. It already seemed as though the grocery list was a mile long, yet I couldn't help but add more items to it. This was so tiresome. Wait a minute! This isn't flash fiction--it's my poor pathetic reality of every Friday morning!

Rivers of sweat flowed down her face and neck. Flex, extend, flex, extend. She sighed with each effort but continued with resolve. The weight seemed to lighten and she knew such ease would do no therapeutic good. 'Cabana boy, another margarita please. Extra large this time.' Cozumel beach therapy was ordered by professionals after all.

btw, loved the twist you took. and how DO you do that strike through thingy?

Lol, Leslie. Good stuff at least it's almost the weekend. :D

That was great, Lime. And yes, you must make it to Cozumel, Doctor's orders. :D

As for the code, It won't let me post it in the comments, so you basically use the same code you do for italics but replace the i with an s.

He shambled from window to window, peering through the curtains.
They were out there.
Everywhere around him.
The ring of eyes.
Watching, always watching. Just like hers.
Cold, steel eyes.
He circled through the rooms again.
They were getting closer.
He laughed.
He had an eye of his own.
He raised it to his mouth.

Oh, I got a chill. You rock, Bernita. :D

Whooooooooo Bernita! Such darkness, brilliant!

Here's mine:

Reginald tasted her fruit. Sweet—now turned sour in his gut. Juicy flesh moulded, bringing pain, heartbreak. Love once tender, morphed into hate. Bitterness reigned. Vengeance uppermost, he vowed to appease spiteful inner voices. Letters rejected, pleas ignored—she would pay.

Bushes shrouded—Reginald bided time. She passed, he struck—blood of retribution his solace.

Trindad it is then, Lime. :D

Fantastic visual, M.E. Very dark and quick to anticipation. I'd never guess you were a fellow horror writer. :D

I write so many different ways, James. One blogger said I made literary fiction enjoyable, as I dabble at the 'proper stuff' too!

Too many voices in my head, see!

I might have another go in a minute...

Attempt Two!

Dad got me a bike. I’m allowed to ride it when I get back from school. It’s got a horn, gears and everything! I’m gonna freewheel down our road, let the wind mess my hair, pretend it’s his breath blowing in my face. I loved my dad. Wish he was here to see me ride.
